Day 26: Gates to the Light Meditation

When you train yourself to concentrate you will become aware of much more in your life." Daskalos, in The Magus of Strovolos, by Kyriacos C. Markides

I was introduced to this meditation back when I was teaching at the Barbara Brennan School of Healing. I found it to be very powerful and it almost led me through without any effort on my part.

This meditation was created by Panayiota Theotoki-Atteshli, otherwise known as Daskalos, which means teacher. Not many people know of him in the US, but he is very well known as a healer, mystic and teacher in other parts of the world including his native Cyprus. You can find it and other meditations in a book titled Gates to the Light: Exercises and Meditations.

Once you get the hang of the instructions, it will become natural for you to pull up the sides of the pyramid and bathe in the light. Read through the directions, and perhaps walk through them, before you start.

We start as we always do by sitting, relaxing and breathing. When you are ready, eyes closed, visualize with your mind's eye, the floor beneath you. Imagine white light coming out of your pointer finger, kind of like ET in the movie. With that finger, imagine you are drawing a large square all around you on the floor. Fill the square with white light. Some of you will visualize that, some of you will feel it or just know it is there. However it works for you is perfect! This diagram shows what we are building. Remember you are sitting in the center of the square.

Using that same pointer finger, draw a triangle up into the air from the corners of the side of the square that is in front of you. Do the same thing with the sides of the square to your right, left and behind you. Now bring the points of the four triangles together overhead to create a pyramid. Imagine the pyramid expanding to be three times larger that your height and fill it with white light. This is really much harder to explain than it is to do.

Now it gets interesting. Breathe deeply. As you exhale sense the triangle in front of you filling with golden light. This is the light of the logos, the word and principle of order and knowledge. Let the gold light fill you and the pyramid.

Breathe deeply and as you exhale, imagine red light filling the triangle to your right. This is Archangle Michael. Let the red light fill you and the pyramid. This light purifies. Thank Michael for his help.

Breathe deeply and as you exhale, imagine violet light filling the triangle to your left. This is Raphael. Let the violet light fill you and the pyramid. This light gives us energetic vitality. Thank Raphael for his help.

Breathe deeply, and as you exhale, imagine sky blue light filling the triangle behind you. This is Gabriel, the most loving and gentle archangel. He comes to embrace you. Let the blue light fill you and the pyramid. Feel your physical body in harmony and peace. Thank Gabriel for his help.

Breathe deeply, and as you exhale, imagine silvery white mist rising up from the floor of the pyramid. This is Uriel, the Great Balancer. Let the light fill you and the pyramid. Your energy body, mental body, and physical body are all in perfect harmony and peace. Thank Uriel for his help.

So now that we have created this amazing pyramid filled with light we will sit in it for as long as you are willing.

When you are ready to close the meditation, use your intention to dissolve the pyramid.

You are doing great! If this meditation does not do it for you, simply sit and focus on the breath for 20 minutes.

Trust the process! Carry on.
